QUESTION
Is the 4.5 - inch stem measured from directly below the dial? I see that the overall measurement is listed as 9," which is much longer than what I want. Thanks.
ANSWER
The overall length of the 3512FS thermometer is 5.43" (without the sleeve). The overall length of the thermometer with the sleeve is 5.56". The length of the stem is 5.0".

QUESTION
While Im here... (just got done with my stainless heat exchanger)
I need a thermometer for a lead pot.. should have long heavy stem and the critical range for what Im looking for is about 600 to about 850..900 degrees F.
This may well be beyond the range and style of what you carry... but asking anyway!
Many thanks again,
Gary

ANSWER
Hello, we currently do not carry analog thermometers that reach those temperatures. However, we do have other types that can be used for higher temperatures, like item #113774 which can measure up to 2,000 degrees F. Thank you!

QUESTION
I need to know the DIAMETER of the stem. I need 1/8" for mounting one in top and one in bottom of my 100% stainless hot water/heat exchanger tank. This is to monitor its performance, and the performance of the system as a whole.
As Im building it in my shop, I have choices as to how I build it..
I have a choice of half-couplings to weld to it for these thermometers; 1/8" FPT or 1/4" FPT. At this time I have two Swagelok crimp-feral type fittings that I was planning to use to install and seal the thermometers... turns out I should have checked more closely: the thermometers are actually 0.153" diameter. My choices are to attempt to drill them out, see if Swagelok has slightly larger fittings suitable, find.. and buy.. thermometers with 1/8" shaft.. or find a suitable thermometer with the sealing shaft in a 1/4" or 1/8" MPT fitting as a collar around the shaft. 1/4" would be preferred if this comes to fruition.
Please tell me what solutions you might be able to provide..
Many thanks,
Gary

QUESTION
Is this a thermometer that can be stuck into the meat and put in the oven--or do you only put the thermometer in when the dish is removed from the oven and then tested for temperature? Do you make one that stays in the oven stuck in the meat? Thank you.
ANSWER
Hi. This is a pocket test thermometer that is not meant to stay in the oven (please see the manual in the "Literature" tab for more information). You would need a meat thermometer for that, and some examples that we carry on our website are item #s 113191 and 301123. Thanks!
